Conversations with Dr Rick Bowler
Dr Rick Bowler is a senior lecturer in Community and Youth work Studies at Sunderland University. He has a wealth of professional experience in a range of community and youth related fields, including mental health, youth justice, family mediation, and substance misuse.
He has worked for many years in the voluntary and community sector trying to help to develop black and ethnic minority projects including work with asylum seekers and refugees across the North East. His most recent research focus has explored narratives from white, black and minority ethnic youth workers about racism and whiteness in the North East of England.
Rick’s work has a specific focus on social justice and in developing anti-racist, inter-cultural education within youth work.
